A fifth straight game with a goal at Quarry Lane, two hat tricks and a shutout in San Francisco stood out in Division II from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.
Quarry Lane went to California Crosspoint on Sept. 29 unbeaten in five, and Kaiyi Yang kept producing. The junior scored twice in a 6-4 win, his fifth straight game with a goal. He has 14 goals in six games this fall, the same total that took him 13 games a year ago, and his 5.0 points per game is up from 2.3.
The key games
Yang was not the only Quarry Lane player who mattered that night. Jesse Wu, a junior, set up two goals, which gives him 10 assists for the season. Senior Khoi Le and freshman Pranav Deepesh each scored once and set up another. Le has already passed last season's goal total, with four goals and two assists in six games after two goals and three assists in 10 a year ago. Freshman Chuanhe Yang and junior Aarav Tuli scored a goal apiece, and Brian Zhang and Dhyan Vakhraya each had an assist. Six different players scored for a Quarry Lane side that are 5-2-0 in the Bay Counties League.
In San Francisco, Jewish Community won twice in three days, and Sinai Bierman scored in both. The senior opened the week at Bentley on Sept. 29, where Hoshaya Cohen also scored in a 2-1 win and freshman Tomas Seelenberger had an assist. Two days later, against San Francisco Waldorf, Bierman scored the only goal of the game, set up by senior Avery Sezak. Bierman now has 13 goals and has been involved in 46 percent of Jewish Community's recorded goals.
At the other end, senior keeper Ahron Schweig made four saves at Bentley and six more against Waldorf for the shutout, the difference in a 1-0 win. Jewish Community are 9-2-1.

The big games
The best single game of the week came at Sonoma Academy. Against Mendocino on Sept. 30, junior Sean Stroud scored three goals and set up a fourth in a 6-0 win. Half of his six goals this season came in that one game. Marcel Nsizoa Ndi added two goals and an assist, and sophomore Reed Cellitioci scored one and set up one. Cellitioci has eight goals in 10 games, up from two goals all of last season. Maddox Rogers, Preston Haas, Chase Stiger and Cole Cantrell each had an assist.
