Eli Rothschild's three goals lead the Division I week

Three goals against Gateway, a winning week for Arcata and two goals at Middletown stood out in Division I from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.

Eli Rothschild scored three goals and set up a fourth on Oct. 1 as The International School of San Francisco beat Gateway 4-1. Two days earlier the senior had scored in a 2-1 win at Drew. He has 14 goals and eight assists in nine games this fall, at 4.0 points per game.

The key games

Rothschild had help. Miles Tseng, a sophomore, scored and set one up against Gateway, and he scored at Drew as well. He has six goals this fall for an International School side that are 7-1-1 in the Bay Counties League Central.

Arcata won both of their games. At Eureka on Sept. 29, junior Dakota Grosveld scored twice and set up another in a 5-0 win, and sophomore Isai Aguilar also scored twice. Aguilar has 20 goals, up from 13 in all of last season. Grosveld scored again on Oct. 3 in a 2-1 win over McKinleyville, and his 12 goals are already double last season's total. Arcata are 12-3-2.

McKinleyville's goal that night came from Gaelen Creighton, three days after he scored twice and set up another in a 5-0 win over South Fork. The senior has 20 goals and six assists this fall and has been involved in 48 percent of McKinleyville's recorded goals.

The big games

Kelseyville won 2-1 at Middletown on Sept. 29, and Jair Inostroza Carrillo scored both goals. It was the senior's third game-winning goal of the season, and he has 10 goals in all for a side that are 7-6-2 in the North Central League I.

The same day, Lower Lake beat Clear Lake 2-1, and sophomore Adrian Guzman scored one and set up the other. He has 10 goals and 12 assists this fall and has been involved in 81 percent of Lower Lake's recorded goals. His 3.6 points per game is up from 1.9 as a freshman.

In the Bay Counties League East, Athenian and College Prep drew 1-1 on Oct. 2, and Judah Mukome scored for Athenian. The senior has 18 goals and 10 assists in nine games, at 5.1 points per game, up from 2.6 a year ago.

The players on a run

Grosveld's week was part of a longer stretch. He scored in four straight games from Sept. 26 to Oct. 6, with six goals and an assist across them. Rothschild scored in three straight from Sept. 29 to Oct. 6, with six goals and four assists in that time. Arcata and the International School both go into the rest of league play with an attacker in form.
