Monte Vista Makes Statement in Dominant Win Over Granada
by Jack Flowers · Winter 2025
What was billed as a top-five showdown turned into a statement performance, as No. 4 Monte Vista (4-1-2) cruised past No. 3 Granada (6-1-1) with a commanding 4–0 win. Monte Vista controlled the match from the opening minutes, combining technical quality, physicality, and composure to overwhelm a strong Granada side.
Monte Vista struck early to set the tone and never let up, dominating possession throughout the first half with calm, confident buildup. Every player looked comfortable on the ball, and their size advantage helped them win duels and sustain long spells of pressure, repeatedly delivering dangerous balls into the box.
Granada showed flashes through their midfield, particularly from No. 10, who dictated play from a deeper role, and No. 11, who floated between attacking positions and offered a threat on the break. Still, clear chances were limited. A huge save from the Granada goalkeeper and a header off the crossbar briefly kept the score close, but a costly clearance error just before halftime allowed Monte Vista to capitalize and take a 2–0 lead into the break—an imposing margin given the 40-minute halves.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Monte Vista continued to push, with No. 14 standing out for his hold-up play and ability to link attacks before arriving in the box. Granada’s goalkeeper was forced into multiple saves, while Monte Vista’s back line remained largely untroubled despite a few half-chances.
The match was effectively sealed when No. 23, who was a constant threat on the left wing, rose to power home a header for his second goal of the night. Monte Vista added a late fourth to cap a dominant display.
Against one of the section’s top teams, Monte Vista looked sharper, stronger, and more complete in every phase. With standout performances across the field and total control of the match, this was a clear message sent to the rest of the league.
