A normal mid-season game my senior year. The guy getting hugged? First-ever high school goal. Two years later he’s the Gatorade Player of the Year and headed to Wake Forest. The player front and center? Wins Gatorade the next year, starts at Stanford as a freshman, and as I type is working his way through the NCAA Tournament. Two more players in that frame? Harvard and UPenn. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

One picture. Six kids. A whole lot of stories.

That’s what high school soccer is — stories everywhere. Talent everywhere. Moments that deserve a spotlight.

We’re kicking things off with the California CIF NCS section, and this winter season is our test run while we dial everything in. Stick with us. It’s only going up from here.
