Division II Boys Soccer Power Rankings

Division II Boys Soccer Power Rankings

1. Windsor (5-0-4)

Windsor remains the clear No. 1 in Division II, continuing an unbeaten start while stacking results against elite competition. The Jaguars opened the season with statement draws against Redwood (2–2), Napa (2–2), and most recently Division I top-five power De La Salle, earning an impressive 2–2 tie this week that further validates their top billing.

Despite graduating key scorer Daniel Lopez (24 points — 9 goals, 6 assists), Windsor’s attack has not missed a beat. Star forward Yahir Trejo has taken his game to another level, exploding for 28 points (12 goals, 4 assists) in just 9 matches, putting him firmly among the most dangerous players in the section regardless of division. With proven depth around him and a résumé that already includes multiple D1-caliber performances, Windsor’s consistency and ceiling make them the standard in Division II.

2. Rancho Cotate (6-0-1)

Rancho Cotate makes the biggest statement jump of the week, rising to No. 2 after a convincing 4–2 win over Vintage, a result that reshaped the top of the Division II rankings. After finishing 7-7-2 last season and exiting early in the playoffs, the Cougars have clearly taken a major step forward on both sides of the ball.

Now unbeaten at 6-0-1, Rancho Cotate has posted a dominant early profile, outscoring opponents 25–6, a margin that reflects both attacking efficiency and defensive organization. The Cougars did graduate former senior Ian McCampbell, who led the team offensively last season with 14 points and 7 goals, but production has not dipped. That responsibility has shifted to now-senior Jose Barajas, who broke out as a junior last year with 10 points and 5 goals and has continued to anchor the attack this season. The emphatic win over Vintage removes any lingering doubt — Rancho Cotate has firmly earned its place among the top two in Division II.

3. Vintage (8-1-1)

Vintage slides to No. 3 following its first true setback of the season, a 4–2 loss to Rancho Cotate earlier this week. That result drops the Crushers out of the No. 2 spot, but it does little to diminish how dangerous this group remains.

The offense continues to revolve around Henry Drozdowicz, who is off to a scorching start with 35 points (16 goals, 3 assists) in only 10 games — one of the most productive starts in the entire section. Even after graduating James Stuart (35 points) and Jose Ramirez (23 points), Vintage has proven it can still overwhelm opponents going forward. While the loss exposed some defensive vulnerabilities, their ceiling remains extremely high, and they remain firmly entrenched among the Division II elite.

4. Tennyson (6-1-4)

Tennyson holds the No. 4 spot despite seeing its undefeated run snapped this week. The Lancers suffered a 3–0 loss to Division I San Ramon Valley, a result that halts momentum but does little to erase what has otherwise been a strong start.

After graduating three major contributors last season, Tennyson’s returning junior duo continues to anchor the attack. Alexis Ortez has posted 13 points (5 goals, 3 assists) in 7 games, while Elian Sevilla leads the way with 17 points (8 goals, 1 assist) in 8 games. The loss to San Ramon Valley highlights the gap against top D1 sides, but within Division II, Tennyson’s balance, experience, and consistency still give them an edge over the chasing pack.

5. Mt. Diablo (5-3-1)

The final Top 5 spot came down to Mt. Diablo vs. Mt. Eden, and while the two sides played to a draw earlier this week, Mt. Diablo earns the edge based on strength of schedule.

Mt. Diablo’s three losses have all come against high-level opposition:

Vintage (2–1) — ranked above them in Division II
Foothill (2–0) — currently a top-seven side in Division I
Ygnacio Valley (2-1) — a Top 5 team in Division III

The Red Devils hold a respectable 16–11 goals scored-to-conceded mark and have consistently remained competitive against top-tier opponents. The road ahead is demanding, with two matches against Division I No. 1 Clayton Valley Charter and two against Division III powerhouse Campolindo, making this ranking one of the most volatile in the Top 5. For now, however, Mt. Diablo’s résumé and schedule strength justify the No. 5 position.
