De La Salle Makes Statement in Top-Five Division I Clash vs Amador Valley

Two programs ranked inside the Division I Top 5 met in a highly anticipated showdown, and De La Salle delivered a composed, authoritative performance, defeating Amador Valley 3–0 in a match defined by control and maturity.

De La Salle established their identity early, committing to building out of the back with confidence. The goalkeeper was comfortable in possession, and center backs Ian Walker (#5) and Ryan Roy (#19) set the tone, consistently breaking pressure and shutting down Amador Valley’s counterattacks. While the opening ten minutes were relatively even, De La Salle gradually took control of possession and tempo.

Amador Valley had moments of promise, including a quick counter in the 21st minute and a sustained spell of possession around the 18th minute, but De La Salle’s defensive structure limited clear looks on goal. A strong save by the Amador Valley goalkeeper in the 26th minute kept the match level, though pressure continued to build.

The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when De La Salle capitalized on a goalkeeper rebound, finishing the chance with a clever backheel to take a 1–0 lead. Despite several earlier near-misses, including scrambles in the box and shots sailing just over the bar, the goal felt deserved. De La Salle entered halftime ahead, having controlled large stretches of the first half without allowing many dangerous opportunities.

The second half opened with De La Salle once again on the front foot. A long throw from Bryce Vincent (#8) created chaos in the box, leading to a close-range finish that doubled the advantage. Amador Valley responded with urgency, forcing a dangerous corner and rattling the crossbar off a well-delivered cross in the 17th minute of the half, but De La Salle’s goalkeeper and back line held firm, highlighted by a critical goal-line clearance.

As Amador Valley pushed numbers forward, space opened up. De La Salle punished it late, sealing the result with a composed cut-back and a one-time finish by sophomore Camden Gartner (#20) into the upper corner to make it 3–0 with nine minutes remaining.

Out wide, Joey Ospeck (#7) was consistently dangerous, repeatedly winning 1v1s and delivering quality service, while Preston Spalasso (#23) impressed with his technical ability on the left flank. Cian Rattigan (#9) was also involved in several dangerous moments near the top of the box. For Amador Valley, Nader Hanna (#10) controlled stretches of midfield play, and Avi Gorrepati (#66) provided energy and width late in the match, but De La Salle’s balance, discipline, and execution proved decisive.

In a matchup between two Division I Top-5 sides, De La Salle secured a convincing statement victory.
